A bus full of presents, a real Christmas angel and lots of amazed children: Last week we celebrated a tradition that is particularly dear to our hearts.
A Christmas tree in November – an unusual sight for most people. Not so at Krones, because as soon as the first gingerbread appears in German supermarkets – around mid-August – we start thinking about Christmas. That’s when, with summer temperatures still in the air, planning begins at our headquarters in Neutraubling for a cherished tradition: the Christmas campaign. As part of this charitable initiative, wish lists have been distributed in the Regensburg district to children and young people in need since 2014 – quite literally, according to the lyrics of a well-known German Christmas carol, “Every year again”. And this year was no exception!
By mid-November, some of the completed wish lists were already adorning the Christmas tree in the reception hall. The remaining ones were made available digitally for all remote workers and employees at other sites to download. And, as always, they were fulfilled with enthusiasm by generous colleagues. This time, there were more than ever before: A record-breaking number of over 660 gifts were purchased, often artistically wrapped, then meticulously sorted into blue Krones boxes by the project team and finally delivered in person to various institutions. Joining the Krones Christmas mobile once again was the Christmas angel – a traditional Christmas gift-bringer in parts of Europe, representing the Christ Child – which almost caused as much amazement as the towering stacks of gift-filled boxes. Almost.
The most beautiful form of appreciation
Ramona Majorschi from the Regensburg District Office explains the immense value that the commitment of Krones employees holds – not only for the children and children’s homes but also for foster families in the district: “Every child needs a home. For many children, however, it’s not possible to grow up in their biological family – yet they urgently need a secure, stable place where they can develop in a child-friendly and protected way. They find this with foster parents. Foster parents are not heroes, but they are there. Every day.” It is, of course, all the more wonderful when this dedication is recognised – and appreciation is one of the most beautiful forms of recognition: “With the Krones Christmas campaign, foster families experience appreciation and recognition without expecting anything in return – a huge thank you for that!”
